
1. Don’t Ignore Tripping Breakers
A breaker that trips repeatedly isn’t “annoying”—it’s warning you. Reset it once. If it trips again, stop and call an electrician.
2. Never Overload Outlets
Too many devices = overheating. If you need multiple power strips in one spot, you need more outlets, not more strips.
3. Know the Difference: Power Strip vs Surge Protector
Power strips just add plugs. Surge protectors actually protect your electronics. Look for a joule rating.
4. Watch for Warm or Discolored Outlets
Outlets should never feel warm. If you see burn marks or smell plastic, cut power and call a pro immediately.
5. Extension Cords Are Temporary
They’re not meant for permanent use. Running cords under rugs or through walls is a fire hazard.
